What's Your Entrepreneurial Personality--

What’s your Entrepreneurial Personality?

Now before we get into the this I want to explain WHY this is important.

Knowing your Entrepreneurial Personality helps you determine:

  • what type of team members that best work with you
  • what type of services that help support your business
  • the personalities with those services that best work with you
  • what type of clients that best fit you and best resonate with who you are so that you could serve them best

There are two basic types of personality when it comes to entrepreneurship and there’s nothing wrong with either one.

Are you a dolphin personality or are you a shark personality?

The Shark personality:

  • extremely goal-oriented
  • all about milestones & to-do lists
  • type A personalities
  • lot of high-energy outputs

So, your goal-getting and your goal-setting strategies have to be really tight and disciplined, and your to-do list and everything has to also be incorporate that way.

Now, because of the high-energy output as a shark entrepreneur, you’re going to make sure that you have really long downtimes after the high-energy output so you can re-energize, revitalize, and recover. Unlike the dolphin, these downtimes have to be intentional and have to be lengthy, and there’s nothing wrong with that because the shark entrepreneur works in spurts so they get a lot accomplished in that sprint period to get their milestones to the goals.

The Dolphin personality:

  • tends to ebb and flow between work and play throughout the day
  • loves to be around people
  • prefers to “see how the day turns out” rather than check off to-do lists
  • does not need quite as much downtime

The difference in downtime here is a dolphin has FREQUENT downtime throughout the day, which in total is only a fraction of the shark’s downtime. So if you have the type of business that allows you to incorporate a lot of joy and play and fun, okay, then you’re probably resonating more with a dolphin personality. Like a dolphin, it comes out for air, and it goes into the water, and it goes back and forth all the time.

For the dolphin type. you will probably need is a set of team members that also reflect that, and more importantly, your clients and your customers will also need that type of care of being able to incorporate that type of fluctuation in the business.

Hopefully, that was helpful. If you have any questions about this because this can go a lot deeper, just post your questions in the comments below. If you think you know somebody who can actually benefit from this topic, by all means, sharing is caring, so share this video.

So, what are you waiting for? Go find out what personality resonates with you best and start to look at all your team members, the people that you work with, and more importantly your clients to see if you’re really vibrating at that level either as a dolphin or a shark.
