How_To_Become_An_Olympian_Entrepreneur_YouTube_(1)

Aloha! I made this video while in Hawaii for a vacation. It was the last weekend the Olympics were on, and I wanted to talk about how we as entrepreneurs can become Olympians in entrepreneurship.
I was watching one of the interviews of Katie Ledecky from the USA Swim Team.

When Katie Ledecky broke her own world record, she said under her breath “You know what? I had set this goal to hit at three minutes and 56 seconds and guess what? I hit it! I can check that off the list now.”

There’s something really interesting powerful about that because we look at these athletes you know we always think oh they are probably putting in hours of work and they are naturally talented, but what really separates them from all the other people who work just as hard or if not more so, is the fact that they get excruciating clear, very specific, with their goals.

She literally four years ago sat down with a coach and wrote down wrote down “three minutes and 56 seconds” as their big goal for the Rio Olympics. Think about that for a moment the specific nature of that goal. How many of us will have the courage to set such a specific goal and yet for her amazingly enough as an Olympic athlete hit that goal right on the nose.

So I want you to think about that for a moment: think about what is the kind of entrepreneur you want to be, what is the kind of business that you want, and how much are you willing to put yourself on the line to hit a specific goal.

What’s gonna separate you from all the hard work you’re doing from the other entrepreneurs is the willingness to be as excruciating specific with the goals that you set, the three minutes and 56 seconds, the exact dollar amount down to the penny, the daily the hourly income you want to make, the weekly income to make, the monthly income.

So what I want to do is I want to challenge you hear from the Island of Maui to go back to your goals and if you want to uplevel yourself to be an Olympian level athlete, I challenge you to get as specific as possible, almost to the point as it being scary and write it down.

Katie ledecky apparently wrote down all of our goals on a pool buoy so she actually sees it see it. World class athletes are doing this, why don’t we as entrepreneurs model?

There is a reason why people who achieve high level success do those types of things so isn’t a time for you to go back to your goals get specific as possible and then make it happen.

So, what are you waiting for?
