Nancy Gaines Money Story:
When I was 16, I learned that my dad had a heart attached and died unexpectedly while on a business trip. I heard the news from my high school principal. When I got home, I immediately asked my mom, “Dad had life insurance. We’ll be financially fine, right?” She paused and explained they were about to buy it, but wanted to wait until after Dad returned from his trip. 8 weeks later, the sheriff knocked on our door to serve her the foreclosure notice. She had us pretend that we weren’t home. I’ve never seen my Mom so scared in my entire life. When I was 16, I learned that my dad had a heart attached and died unexpectedly while on a business trip.
